Fourteen-year-old Elexzia looks forward to one thing every year: her week at Camp Quality. It’s more than just a camp—it’s a place where she can find the understanding and acceptance that school can’t offer.
After losing her sister Bella, Elexzia struggled to find connections; the trauma and grief of her loss made her feel isolated from her peers. But at Camp Quality, she’s not alone. Here, surrounded by kids who understand her journey, she finds belonging and acceptance.
Elexzia’s family shared, “This camp is one of the only positive things that Lexzi looks forward to every year. She has no friends at school and doesn’t fit in anywhere as she looks at life differently due to the trauma and loss in her life.” Yet, at camp, Elexzia feels at home. She paints, draws, and listens to music, finding creative outlets that help her heal.
Recently, at our zoo family event, her family reunited with Camp Quality friends, sharing a comforting day of memories and support. Her mom expressed that she is so grateful for CQ for providing programming to her family. For Elexzia, Camp Quality provides a place of light and belonging, even in the darkest times.
