Gianna’s life changed drastically in 2016 when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She spent 28 days in the hospital undergoing blood transfusions and tests, followed by over two years of chemotherapy. During this time, she missed out on key childhood experiences, like preschool and playdates.
Yet, Gianna’s story is one of resilience. She discovered Camp Quality, a place where she could just be a kid again. At camp, Gianna discovered activities that brought her joy and a sense of normalcy like swimming, gaga ball, and ziplining. Camp Quality gave Gianna something she had missed out on for so long: a place where she felt accepted, understood, and truly herself.
For her mother Alyssa, Camp Quality has been a lifeline. Family Camp is a place she can unplug from the daily grind and find solace in a community that understands what it’s like to raise a child who has battled cancer.
Today, Gianna is thriving, and Alyssa is grateful for Camp Quality, for giving Gianna the freedom to embrace life beyond her cancer, surrounded by friends who have walked similar paths.
