CAMP QUALITY CAMPS RECOGNIZED AS 2014 GOLD RIBBON CAMPS

Camp Quality USA, Inc., a not-for-profit network of camps providing year-round support programs for children with cancer and their families at no cost, announced today that each of its 15 camps have been recognized as a 2014 Gold Ribbon Camp by Children's Oncology Camping Association, International (COCA-I), an international non-profit organization with a mission to strengthen the community of camps for children with cancer and their families.

The camps were recognized during the COCA-I 2014 Annual Conference Saturday, November 8, in Salt Lake City.

Established in 2011, COCA-I’s Gold Ribbon is given to those camps that promote safe and effective oncology camp programming as set forth in COCA-I’s best practice guidelines. To be eligible for Gold Ribbon consideration, camps complete a self-assessment that is then reviewed by a COCA-I panel of judges.

“We are honored that all 15 of our camps have earned Gold Ribbon status,” said Camp Quality USA CEO Patty Harris. “Our camp directors and their teams work tirelessly throughout the year to make the camp experience as memorable as possible for children, and this honor is really a testament to all that they do.”

The Gold Ribbon is the second recognition for Camp Quality in the past four months. In August, Camp Quality was awarded a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America's premier charity evaluator, recognizing the camp’s sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

“It is truly a thrill to be recognized by both COCA-I and Charity Navigator for the way we manage our camp activities and the funding for these activities,” said Harris.  “We strive to provide a high quality organization, and recognition by third parties tells me that we are achieving that goal.”
